Wrinkles & Fine Lines

Facial Acupuncture for Wrinkles & Fine Lines in North Vancouver

Fine lines around the eyes, frown lines between the brows and skin that feels less firm are a natural part of ageing, and sun, stress and sleep all play a part. AcuLife Wellness offers facial acupuncture as a gentle, natural option for people who want to support firmer, fresher-looking skin.

Overview

With age, the skin gradually makes less collagen and elastin, the proteins that keep it firm and springy. Sun exposure, smoking, dehydration, poor sleep, stress and repeated expressions such as frowning or squinting add to fine lines and wrinkles over time, and tension in the facial muscles can make expression lines look deeper.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the face is seen as a reflection of overall health, so facial acupuncture is usually paired with body points chosen for your sleep, stress and energy. At AcuLife Wellness, we begin by learning about your goals, skincare routine and health history before recommending an approach.

Common Concerns

  • Fine lines around the eyes and mouth
  • Frown lines between the brows or lines across the forehead
  • Skin that feels less firm or has lost some tone
  • A tired or dull-looking complexion
  • Tension in the forehead, brow or jaw

How Facial Acupuncture May Help

Facial acupuncture uses very fine, short needles placed along lines and at points on the face and neck, together with points on the body. The tiny insertions are thought to encourage local circulation and the skin's natural repair response, including collagen production, while gentle needling may help relax tight facial muscles that deepen expression lines.

The evidence is limited: a few small studies have reported improvements in skin elasticity and the appearance of wrinkles, but larger, well-designed studies are needed. Facial acupuncture doesn't freeze muscles or add volume like Botox or fillers — changes are usually gradual and subtle, vary between people, and a course of treatments is generally recommended.

What to Expect

Your first visit includes a conversation about your goals, skincare routine, health history and any recent cosmetic treatments, followed by treatment in a private room. A course of sessions — often weekly at first — is usually suggested, followed by occasional maintenance visits. Minor bruising can occasionally occur, so plan treatments away from important events.

When to Seek Medical Care

See a physician or dermatologist for a mole or spot that changes in size, shape or colour, bleeds or doesn't heal, or for any sudden change in your skin. Sudden drooping or weakness of the face is a medical emergency — call 911, as it can be a sign of a stroke.
