Pregnancy Support

Pregnancy Acupuncture in North Vancouver

Pregnancy brings its own aches, discomforts, and stresses. AcuLife Wellness offers gentle acupuncture during pregnancy as complementary support, always alongside the care of your doctor or midwife.

Overview

Pregnancy calls for extra care with any treatment. Acupuncture during pregnancy is approached differently from other sessions: certain points are traditionally avoided or modified at different stages, your position on the treatment table is adjusted for comfort, and your stage of pregnancy and any complications shape what's appropriate.

At AcuLife Wellness, care starts with a conversation about your pregnancy so far, including your due date, how you're feeling, and any guidance from your doctor or midwife.

Common Reasons Pregnant Patients Seek Support

  • Pregnancy-related back or pelvic discomfort
  • Nausea, particularly in early pregnancy
  • Stress, anxiety, or difficulty sleeping
  • Neck, shoulder, or muscular tension as your body changes
  • General wellness support during pregnancy

How Acupuncture May Be Used

Sessions are gentle and individualized, with points chosen with your stage of pregnancy in mind. Later in pregnancy you'll usually lie on your side or semi-reclined with supportive pillows rather than flat on your back.

These are common reasons patients ask about acupuncture during pregnancy, not promises of a specific outcome. Research on acupuncture in pregnancy is more limited than for many other uses, which is why an individual conversation with a registered practitioner matters.

What to Expect

Please tell us you're pregnant when you book and again at your appointment, along with how many weeks along you are and any complications. Your first visit includes a full intake and a gentle, individualized session; your practitioner will discuss how often to come in, which may change as your pregnancy progresses.

See our services page for more on our treatments.

When to Seek Medical Care

Acupuncture during pregnancy should always sit alongside your maternity care. If your pregnancy is high-risk or you have any complications, talk to your doctor or midwife before booking. Vaginal bleeding, severe abdominal pain, leaking fluid, reduced fetal movement, or a severe headache with vision changes or sudden swelling needs immediate assessment by your maternity care provider or emergency care — not acupuncture.
