Acupuncture in North Vancouver: A First-Time Patient Guide

New to acupuncture, or new to the neighborhood? Here's everything a first-time patient in North Vancouver should know before booking.

What Acupuncture Is

Acupuncture is a component of Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves placing hair-fine, sterile, single-use needles at specific points along the body's meridians. It's commonly used as part of a broader plan to help manage pain, ease tension, and support general well-being, generally alongside — not instead of — other care.

Common Reasons Patients Seek Care

  • Back, neck, and shoulder pain, or sciatica
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Fertility support, alongside a broader care plan
  • Stress and general emotional well-being
  • General wellness and recovery support

Our conditions section covers each of these in more detail, including what the evidence says and how treatment is individualized.

How Appointments Work

A first appointment generally starts with an intake conversation about your health history and current concern, followed by an assessment and, in most cases, treatment in the same visit. Our first appointment guide walks through this in full.
